Rain Forest Couture

That’s Jamie.  I got love for her, she had love for my clothes.  The skirt I made (and showed at the AKFO), the shirt with one of my stencils.  We’re at Kalani, romping around between A-frames getting good pics.

That skirt was actually one of the first things I ever did sew, besides that pillow I made back in a Home Ec class in the eighth grade.  That project came after we learned how to make pigs inna blanket.

Below is Maggie:

She’s rockin’ a skirt I designed, using a heavy upholstery fabric that had a great flow to it.  And it has pockets!!!  My sewing mentor James was the man in getting it together, I learned so much from him.  His voice is still in my head when I sew; it’s a good thing.

The top is my ninja stencil with a shirt we tore apart and tied back together.  Now that’s jungle fashion!!

About Benjamin Allen Ellis

Some phoenix mythologies talk of the soul's hierarchy in terms of birds. The eagle being our pinnacle, the phoenix right below, constantly burning and dying and rebirthing in order to find itself born eagle. Since 2000, and my first public art show, I've used the Phoenix as a rallying cry for myself to take hold of what I want and keep 'rebirthing' until I get it. After eight years, it was time to consciously move on up. Hey - I'm goin' eagle.
