The Glass is Half Built…

…so it can get FILLED.  These are shots I did yesterday, continuing in the vein of Sketchy Canvas, a series  of works I did years ago in AK with photographer Joseph Brazenfield.

I approached Robert Cortlandt with the idea, and he jumped on it.  I love enthusiasm, and he has a great eye and is a hard worker.  We’ll be shooting a couple more times this week; as you can see, things got grainy, so these were a nice test run.

This is the process at times.  Frustratingly… non-linear.  You are so close, but something comes up.  I have more work I’ve done recently that illustrates just what I’m talking about.  Sometimes I wonder if it’s me, something I’m doing that makes things so buggy.  Better to just accept the process and roll with the punches, work it out, GET BETTER.

About Benjamin Allen Ellis

Some phoenix mythologies talk of the soul's hierarchy in terms of birds. The eagle being our pinnacle, the phoenix right below, constantly burning and dying and rebirthing in order to find itself born eagle. Since 2000, and my first public art show, I've used the Phoenix as a rallying cry for myself to take hold of what I want and keep 'rebirthing' until I get it. After eight years, it was time to consciously move on up. Hey - I'm goin' eagle.
