I am really pleased with how Buddhette turned out.  Years ago a friend was traveling through Nepal and India, visiting religous sites with his wife.  His wife asked a bhuddist monk: “Why are all the statues of men?  Do you think a woman can acheive enlightenment?”  The monk replied “Yes, of course!  When she is reborn a man.”

The leaves were going to be a shade of red, but, after many swatches, we decided on two shades of violet.  There wasn’t time before I left Alaska to finish the leaves, so Margo will be finishing those up…

She’s great!  Such a good friend and dedicated yogi.  Thanks Margo!  I loved the opportunity to illustrate breaking the ‘ultimate’ glass ceiling.  Cheers.

About Benjamin Allen Ellis

Some phoenix mythologies talk of the soul's hierarchy in terms of birds. The eagle being our pinnacle, the phoenix right below, constantly burning and dying and rebirthing in order to find itself born eagle. Since 2000, and my first public art show, I've used the Phoenix as a rallying cry for myself to take hold of what I want and keep 'rebirthing' until I get it. After eight years, it was time to consciously move on up. Hey - I'm goin' eagle.
